full sun:

kentucky BLUEGRASS

Four different varieties of Kentucky Bluegrass seed make up our Kingston Turf Farms Bluegrass blend. Dark green color, a dense canopy and the beautiful appearance that bluegrass offers. This blend performs very well in full sun and has great self healing properties.

Make no mistake, when you install this on your property, be prepared to answer the question from your neighbors…”Wow! Where did you get that from?”

turf type TALL FESCUE

sun and shade:

Our rhizomatous Turf Type Tall Fescue sod blend gives you the best of both worlds, the ability to thrive in full sun and also in the shade. Our tall fescue is rhizomatous (spreads rhizomes like a bluegrass plant) making it super tough, gives it a better self healing ability, and gives it a very dense canopy. The tall fescue is a bit wider blade than a bluegrass plant, but it has the deep dark color that would rival any 100% bluegrass lawn! Tall fescue inherently requires less fertilizer, less water, and can withstand drought much better than other varieties. If you live near the ocean, our Turf Type Tall Fescue also works well near salt water.

ltp “less than perfect”

LTP “less than perfect” sod is a fully mature product that may have some weeds or thin spots that keep it from being sold as #1 quality. If you are just looking to cover an area with sod and aren’t overly concerned about some weeds or thin spots, LTP is a cheaper alternative to buying our #1 quality sod.

Our LTP sod is always available. *See the example below.

ACCESSORIES AND TOOLS

kingston turf farms rain gauge

If you are watering constantly but it seems like your not getting the results, grab one of our rain gauges and put it in the area you are watering to be sure you are putting down the recommended amount of water. This gauge ranges from 0-4” and is graduated in tenths. It can be stuck in the ground with the built in stake or screwed to a fence post or stake with the holes provided.

sod knife

This stainless steel deep serrated sod knife will cut through the root and thatch layer of your sod. It has a curved design to help cut completely through the piece.

sod stakes

If you have some hills or slopes that you are sodding, the best method of anchoring those pieces in place are some wooden sod stakes. Without the stakes, the pieces are prone to sliding during heavy rain or foot traffic. The stakes will eventually decompose and be mowed off as the new sod roots in. We sell them in bags of 100.
