BLUEGRASS SOD - FULL SUN
Four different varieties of bluegrass seed make up our Kingston Turf Farms Bluegrass blend. Dark green color, a dense canopy and the beautiful appearance that bluegrass offers. This blend performs very well in full sun.
Make no mistake, when you install this on your property, be prepared to answer the question from your neighbors…”Wow! Where did you get that from?”
RHIZOMATOUS TALL FESCUE SOD - SUN/SHADE
Our Rhizomatous Tall Fescue sod blend gives you the best of both worlds, the ability to thrive in full sun and also in the shade. Our tall fescue is rhizomatous (spreads rhizomes like a bluegrass plant) making it super tough and gives it a very dense canopy. The tall fescue is a bit wider blade than a bluegrass plant, but it has the deep dark color that would rival any 100% bluegrass lawn! Tall fescue inherently uses less fertilizer, less water, and can withstand drought much better than other varieties. If you live near the ocean, Rhizomatous Tall Fescue also works well near salt water.
spring “starter” fertilizer
Spring temperatures are cool and soil temps are low, you’re lawn is going to need an application of “starter” fertilizer to jumpstart growth as the soil temp begin to rise. Applying a starter fertilizer will give you earlier green-up and will supply the dormant plant with the food it needs to start growing.
The application rates* are on the bag in lbs./1000 and lbs. N/1000 sq.ft. See the chart below of common spreader settings for SGN 200-220* (Size Guide Number 200-220). This bag covers 13.587 sq.ft.
*The SGN number describes the fertilizer prill size. 220 = 2.2mm.
spring, summer, and fall balanced fertilizer
The 25-0-5 blend is a great balanced fertilizer with the AccuBlu60 slow release technology that will give a steady release of nitrogen for longer period of time (up to 60 days) and a dose of chelated iron to keep your lawn consistently greener. It can be used in spring, early summer, late summer, and fall. Application rates of lbs./1000 and lbs N/1000 sq.ft. are on the bag. This 50 lb. bag can cover up to 17,800 sq.ft.
